Many local entrepreneurs are promoting their halal products at the event called Halal Fiesta Malaysia or HALFEST 2013 which is currently being held at MINES Exhibition Center (MIECC), Seri Kembangan in Selangor Darul Ehsan.

I spent some time today at the event which is described on a banner as Malaysia’s biggest halal expo.Halfest4

Indeed there were a lot of exhibits that caught my eyes but I couldn’t possibly make a stop at most of the booths within the approximately an hour of tour this afternoon.

Among the booths that I was able to visit were: Teratak Coklat (I got to taste their delicious chocolate cookies and biscotti); Alham (they impressed me with bottled dew water and honey products from the Middle East); Fifi Cosmetics (they were promoting a discounted avocado-based beauty cream); Saudagar Jeruk (attracting the crowd with its fruit pickles); and, Halal Development Corporation (HDC).

The HALFEST appeared well-received by entrepreneurs and public even on a weekday today.

According to information in a press release issued about the event on September 12, 2013, “Hosting almost 600 booths that showcases Halal products and services produced by businesses from all over Malaysia, HALFEST 2013 is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors during this 5-day event.” You may read the press release in PDF file here.

The halal industry is important to Malaysia’s economy and hence, platforms like HALFEST can be helpful to the locals to meet other entrepreneurs and grow market reach.

If you’re interested to learn about the halal industry in Malaysia, HALFEST would be a good place to visit. There are a variety of products and services such as frozen and baked food items, clothing, kitchen equipment and Islamic financial services being showcased in the hall.

HALFEST 2013, brought by CIMB Islamic is hosted by Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), co-organised by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and is supported by Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry (MOA) and Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) (Source: Press Release).

HALFEST 2013 is a five-day event that runs until Sunday October 6. For those who cannot make it on weekdays will still have time to enjoy it on Saturday or Sunday.
